The Importance Of Clean Equipment

As you may have read in previous posts, I have recently been having an issue with my Nikon AF-S 80-400mm lens. It was having trouble locking on focus and keeping locked on with Continuous Auto Focus. It would “hunt” making a terrible mechanical noise. I thought it was time to be sent off for a motor service.

I’m not actually sure what fixed the issue, but a full clean of both front and rear elements, a clean of the electrical contacts (which is what I believe to have been the problem) on the lens, a blow with my Giotto’s Rocket Blower and also a blow on the camera mirror itself and as you can see from yet another Wally action shot that everything is back as it should. Remember, for all the electronic wizardry such as Auto Focus and Metering, the camera needs a clear view of the reflected light.

Practice Practice Practice…..

For those that have attended one of my Workshops will know how much I stress that you have to practice photography. This isn’t the case just for beginners learning, but also experienced photographers.

You will often see me using Wally as my model whilst out walking him in the mornings. He loves the “Stay….Stay….Stay….Fetch!” game and this morning we had a lot of fun. Not only is this practice good for technique and the technical aspects of the camera, but also helps with framing and artistic approach.

Here’s a few shots of Wally from this morning.

Last week I had an amazing Dogs-In-Nature Photo Shoot with these 2 adorable best friends in Praia da Rocha.

Not only was it such a laugh being with them, I was giggling to myself when editing them too. It’s not too late to enjoy the 15% off your own shoot, but hurry, the offer ends on Thursday! See the Dogs-In-Nature Photo Shoot Page for more details.

Here are just a couple of shots from the session. Britney Spears pose?

Wally Enjoying The Winter Sun

We took an extended walk today and Wally certainly was full of life in the January sun! It was later than our usual morning walk and therefore not a great deal of wildlife about so Wally became the subject (again!).

Don’t forget that I have 15% discount off a Dogs-In-Nature photo shoot until the end of January, this includes Vouchers and any booking made before the end of the month even if the date is after.

New Service : Dogs-In-Nature Photo Shoots!

If you’re a regular blog reader then you will know that I often post photos of Wally when we are out on our adventures. People keep mentioning that I should start offering this type of photography for other Dog owners and I have been considering this for some time.

So let me introduce to you Dogs-In-Nature Photo Shoots! The idea of this new project is to offer something slightly different to the usual Dog Portrait photography that although is great, often doesn’t show the Dog’s real nature and character. On my photo shoots I will be accompanying you and your dog(s) and capturing photographs of them playing, running, sitting gazing into space and anything else you wish to capture all in a natural environment rather than a studio setting.

This photo of Wally is a perfect example of his character.

Wally Splashing Around In The River

If you have more than one dog, or even want to share a session with another owner to reduce the cost then this is also an option. Each session guarantees, at least, 10 digital photographs and also 1 professionally printed A3-sized Photograph per dog. Further prints will also be available to purchase at a later date in various sizes.

To celebrate this new project, there is 15% discount on all sessions, including Gift Vouchers until the end of January.

More details and prices can be found on the Dogs-In-Nature Photo Shoots Page.
