This morning’s walk with Wally was a warm one, although I was a little later than usual. It was 10am and already 17 deg up here in the Algarve Hills. I stopped briefly to admire the views as I headed up Eagle Ridge (some of you who come on my walks will remember this ridge) and snapped this picture of the sun shining through a Cork Oak.

Last night I ventured out just before sunset in hope the skies would turn red and I’d get a nice backdrop to our local village, São Marcos da Serra. The red sky never came, however, just in case I took some photos of the sun disappearing behind the ridge and then I waited until dusk had settled in giving a nice backlight glow.

Myself and Emma took the Dog for his walk this morning and just about to walk down our long drive and Emma said “What’s this hole?”. To our surprise it was yet another Tarantula Wolf Spider Burrow. That is now 3 different burrows that I’m aware of.
This afternoon, I waited for her to pop her head out. She has no babies and is a little smaller than my normal one down near the river.
Here is a quick photo I got. I will be getting more soon. Find more information about the Tarantula Wolf Spider HERE
Morning Dog Walk: Wally Enjoying The Returned River
I posted yesterday morning about the River Odelouca starting back up after our Autumn rain. Today, the river level has again increased slightly and now looks like it’s flowing above ground.
Wally certainly took advantage of the extra water to splash around in so I grabbed a few shots of him.

It’s a Full Moon tonight and I was ready to capture it rising above a ridge here in the hills of the Algarve.
To enable both the Moon and ridge to be exposed correctly, I took 2 shots, one with an exposure to stop the Moon “blowing out”, in other words to avoid it being too bright and not seeing the detail. The 2nd shot was a longer exposure to capture the silhouette of the hills. These have then been blended in Photoshop to create one final image.

After some heavy showers this afternoon, I wasn’t expecting a sunset. However, a small break in the clouds gave a very angry-looking sunset with some bright colours. I only had time to quickly grab my standby camera (My Nikon D810 with 80-400mm lens) and take this shot handheld.
