Algarve Serra

Come and join me for a stroll around the stunning Algarve Serra where I will explain some of the fantastic nature surrounding you. Although this is not a Workshop, I will be on hand to offer advice on photography techniques. It’s also the perfect opportunity if you have any questions regarding my Workshops.

Everyone is welcome, in fact you don’t even need a camera! The walk is not going to be too strenuous, however, please bear in mind that they will be on dirt tracks that may include short climbs/descents which may be steep and uneven. The walk will last between 2 and 3 Hours and will be a gentle pace with plenty of stops.

There is no charge for these walks, I just love to share the local area with others.

Depending on the season, you may see some of the following wildlife, but of course nothing can be guaranteed and you may see nothing (The scenery is still great!);
» Short-Toed Eagles
» Booted Eagles
» European Bee Eaters
» Firecrests
» Golden Oriole
» Lesser Spotted Woodpeckers
» Kingfishers
» Otters
» Egyptian Mongoose
….plus much more!

European Bee Eater

The area is rich in Cork Oak Trees and explanations of the Cork Harvest process will also be given.

The meeting time is 9:30am in the main square in São Marcos da Serra which is approximately 20 minutes north from Albufeira. Depending on the route, we may have a very short drive (5 minutes max) to another location to start the walk. Café Central will be open for you to purchase a Coffee before and after the walk.

Here is the meeting place on Google Maps. There is a small free car park which should be ample, however, free parking on the streets is also available.

Things to bring;
» Yourself.
» A drink.
» Walking Shoes or Trainers (Sandals or FlipFlops are not recommended).
» Correct clothing for the weather.
» In the warmer months you may want to bring sunglasses, hat and sunscreen as it can get hot in the Serra.
» Camera and Binoculars (not mandatory).

If you are wishing to bring multiple lenses and tripods bear in mind you will be carrying it the whole time. This walk is also suitable for you to bring your children, but please no Dogs as this will hinder our chances of viewing the wildlife.

Here is a video of the scenery to expect. The bird is a Booted Eagle.

{Remember to watch in HD if possible}
