Description

Algarve Serra

This service is to compliment my Free Nature Walks that are held in the Northern Algarve Hills. Maybe you were unable to get a space or perhaps would rather your own personal tour or have a private group.

The walk can be tailored to your own requirements of fitness, experience and desire to see particular nature species. It is also a great time to discuss any photographic questions you may have and even chat about my Workshops.

Everyone is welcome, in fact you don’t even need a camera! The walk is not going to be too strenuous, however, please bear in mind that they will be on dirt tracks that may include short climbs/descents which may be steep and uneven. The walk will last between 2 and 3 Hours and will be a gentle pace with plenty of stops.

The price is just €10 per person with a minimum charge of €30 for group sizes less than 3. The maximum group size is 10 people.

Depending on the season, you may see some of the following wildlife, but of course nothing can be guaranteed and you may see nothing (The scenery is still great!);
» Short-Toed Eagles
» Booted Eagles
» European Bee Eaters
» Firecrests
» Golden Oriole
» Lesser Spotted Woodpeckers
» Kingfishers
» Otters
» Egyptian Mongoose
….plus much more!

European Bee Eater

The area is rich in Cork Oak and Medronho Trees and explanations of the Harvesting process will also be given.

The meeting time can be tailored to your own requirements, but I would strongly recommend a morning start. We always meet in the main square in Sáo Marcos da Serra shown on this Google Map. There is a small free car park which should be ample, however, free parking on the streets is also available.

Things to bring;
» Yourself.
» A drink.
» Walking Shoes or Trainers (Sandals or FlipFlops are not recommended).
» Correct clothing for the weather.
» In the warmer months you may want to bring sunglasses, hat and sunscreen as it can get hot in the Serra.
» Camera and Binoculars (not mandatory).

If you are wishing to bring multiple lenses and tripods bear in mind you will be carrying it the whole time. This walk is also suitable for you to bring your children, but please no Dogs as this will hinder our chances of viewing the wildlife.

Here is a video of the scenery to expect. The bird is a Booted Eagle.

{Remember to watch in HD if possible}
