Fox Visiting The Iberian Magpie Feeding Area Overnight (Video)

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestmail

The Iberian Magpie Feeding Area has been having some visitors overnight, identified by droppings left. I believe that a Badger is coming and possibly a Genet. Therefore, I now leave a trail cam running to see what comes along for a free small snack.

Last night a Fox, a healthy looking one, came along. The video is just some quick snippets as it was there for a long time, the camera picked up its arrival at 3:01am and it left at 3:47am!

Kingfishers Diving From The Perch (Video)

It looks like Kingfisher Perch V2.0 is finally starting to be a success! As you will see in the video below, there was a lot of activity yesterday and this morning. The Trail Cam seems to be having an issue. The way it works is that if motion is detected, 1 minute is recorded, however, for some reason, it doesn’t seem to record another minute if action continues. I will be looking into this, but at least I have some action to show which is as follows;

1st June at 3:16pm – A brief visit from what looks like the male.
1st June at 5:02pm – The sun has dropped behind the trees on the river bank so the perch is in the shadows, its difficult to tell if it’s a male or female.
1st June at 5:11pm – Again, difficult to tell the sex, but a dive for fish, this time a failed attempt.
2nd June at 7:00am – Difficult to tell, but I think it’s the male, 2 successful dives for fish. Also near the end another Kingfisher (I suspect the female) flies left to right and then back right to left before perching out of sight, but very vocal.

Listen out for all the other bird noises in the clips, there are Bee Eaters, Iberian Magpies, Iberian Chiffchaff and Nightingale to name a few.

Ducklings Fighting (In The Cutest Sense) Over A Crayfish (Video)

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestmail

Not much activity on the new Kingfisher perch, however, there was a good capture of 2 Ducklings fighting over a Crayfish, of course, Ducklings fighting is always going to be cute fighting rather than vicious.

As you will see, Mother Duck is close to hand. She did have five Ducklings, maybe the other 3 are just out of shot, or maybe they have been taken by a Fox or Mongoose.

Kingfisher On The Perch! (Video)

It may not be what I need, but at least one has landed on the perch. As you can see, this is a female due to the red lower beak, males are black. Could this be Princessa? Quite possible, I really hope so.

Interestingly enough, this was captured at 11:23am which is around a similar time to when my Nature Walk came near this area. It could be that she landed on the perch to hide from us.

Princessa? Maybe.

Bodge Job Repair To My Trail Cam

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestmail

A few years ago, I had a lot of problems with Bushnell Trail Cameras, which resulted in many being sent back under warranty. The current one I have is a few years old now but still a good performer, the model number 119740 (NatureView Cam HD Max Live View).

However, I still feel the build quality is a little “cheap” on these cameras and a few days ago, the strap brackets snapped, these are made from quite thin plastic. So this morning, a bit of engineering time in the workshop and have bonded some metal brackets to the back. Probably stronger than the original ones too!
