Agitaçao Maritima – Rough Seas!

** 20% OFF ALL ACRYLIC PRINTS UNTIL MARCH 31ST **

Storm Emma has had a big influence on the high tides causing a lot of damage to the beaches, boardwalks and eateries along the Southern Algarve Coastline. The IPMA (Portuguese Met Office) had yellow alert in force for “Agitaçao Maritima” which translates to Rough Seas.

Yesterday I visited two beaches to take a look for myself, and whilst destructive, I wanted to capture the beauty of these rough seas. First was Praia Arrifes near Guia which has 3 rock structures called “Três Penecos”, the high tide was retreating and battering the rocks. The fast moving water was ideal for a long exposure, so with both an ND64 and ND8 combined with a Circular Polariser, I was able to capture this photo.

Then I took the 2 ND filters off and captured a wave crashing over the rocks.

Then it was a short drive west to Praia do Galé for a sunset shot, however, the clouds started to cover the sun, so I decided to take another long exposure shot.
