Morning Dog Walk: The Esteva Is Flowering!?

I take a camera along on my Dog Walks to bring you some of the sightings that I see on my morning walks, these photos are rarely going to be great quality as its hard enough keeping an energetic Dog entertained and get close enough to anything. They also help me identify where species are so that I can plan to return.

I haven’t published any Dog Walk Blogs for a while and this is down to the fact that we now have 3 dogs, yes we have another rescued dog called Snowy (photos of him soon), which makes takin a camera a bit difficult, particulary as 2 of them are still being trained.

Anyway, this morning we stumbled across this line flower on one of the Esteva (Gum Rock Rose) plants. This is very strange as they normally flower in April. This is just a single flower but strange nonetheless. Maybe it’s down to lack of rain throughout the year and the sudden wetness has caused it to flower.

The river pools are getting larger by the day but even after all the rain there is no sign of the river running anytime soon. However, Wally was enjoying running in an out of one of the larger pools this morning and I was at hand with the camera to capture him.

Why not give a different gift this year to anyone living in the Algarve or Lower Alentejo, a Dogs-In-Nature Gift Voucher and up until Christmas Eve, enjoy a 10% discount! For more information on my Dogs-In-Nature photo shoots, please Read Here!

I love the way that the early morning sun is catching the water droplets.

Morning Dog Walk: Sheep Poo Mushrooms!

I take a camera along on my Dog Walks to bring you some of the sightings that I see on my morning walks, these photos are rarely going to be great quality as its hard enough keeping an energetic Dogs entertained and get close enough to anything. They also help me identify where species are so that I can plan to return.

This morning whilst walking along the river bed we noticed some tiny mushrooms/toadstools/fungi (delete as applicable!) growing on closer inspection we noticed that they had sprouted out of sheep poo droppings.

These photos captured on my mobile doesn’t really show the scale, but those droppings are small sheep droppings of about 1cm wide. It just goes to show that a tiny bit of rain kick starts life. I’m not sure what the tiny bug on the right sheep dropping on the 2nd photo is.

Where’s Wally And Who Is The Lookalike?

I was asked by 2 followers recently why there hasn’t been any Dog Walk photos recently. For those that don’t know me personally won’t know that Lupi, our 2nd rescue dog was tragically killed a short while ago. As you can imagine, we were devastated and we continue to grieve. However, time moves on and because we originally took Lupi as a companion for Wally we decided to rescue another dog.

Therefore, we now have Millie, as you can see, shes almost a Mini-Wally. She is 5 months old and is another rescued dog. This morning I took a few snaps of her running about.

Morning Dog Walk: 3 Pictures Say 3 Thousand Words

As the old saying goes; “A picture says a thousand words”, well in this case, 3 pictures of Lupi tells a huge story. It’s been just over 6 weeks since we collected Lupi from the Kennel and although there is still a long road ahead, he is a very different dog to the shy and frightened boy we decided to give a life of freedom to.

Obviously, when we first collected him, there was no way he could be let off the lead, just look at the photos, this post needs no further text!

Morning Dog Walk: Usually Abundant But This Year A Rare Sight

I take a camera along on my Dog Walks to bring you some of the sightings that I see on my morning walks, these photos are rarely going to be great quality as its hard enough keeping an energetic Dog entertained and get close enough to anything. They also help me identify where species are so that I can plan to return.

It was great to spot a Woodchat Shrike this morning perched on an electricity cable. Normally, the area is abundant with them, but this year its the first I’ve spotted since the beginning of Spring when they returned. It could just be that I’ve been in the wrong place at the wrong time and I guess they are happily all around me, but certainly great to spot one.
