Doorway To The Ocean

It was great meeting some of the members of the Algarve Photo Fun Facebook Group this morning on the very first Social Meet.

Although I wasn’t there to work, I never pass an opportunity for a shot. We walked along the Algar Seco boardwalk on the cliffs above Carvoerio and I wandered down one of the paths to the small caves and was fascinated by one of the views so I waited and waited and waited for the right moment when no people were visible and shot this.

I like it so much it’s printed at will be viewable on my display at the Smokehouse and Tapas Bar Christmas Fair tomorrow.

December Sunset At Carvoeiro

I have been wanting to shoot from this iconic Algarve viewpoint for a while and as I will be at the Christmas Fair at The Smokehouse & Tapas Bar in Carvoeiro on Sunday I thought it a good idea to have a local photograph to include in the display.

This evening I arrived early to setup for a “2nd Sunset” (the colourful sky after the sun has set) shot, but the clouds started rolling in so changed my plan for an actual sunset shot instead.

If you want to see this image in print and mounted, please come along on Sunday.

Sunset Session At The Beach!

I keep telling myself that I don’t take enough Seascape shots so whilst I was in Balaia Golf Resort on the weekend taking (Real Estate Shots, I decided to head to Praia de São Rafael for the sunset.

I arrived well before sunset to also use the opportunity to take some product shots of my new Photography Bean Bags which will be launched later today!

Of course, after living here for over 2.5 years, even though the temperatures were mid 20s, it was a nice surprise to see people sunbathing and even swimming in the sea! Soon enough the sun started to lower in the sky and most of the sun-cravers started to leave the beach and replaced by sunset watchers. I set myself up near the iconic rock in the centre of the beach and waited. The result of the session was the following 4 photographs which are shown below in time order. All are available in print in the Shop, please see individual links below each image.

First, the sun just about to dip below the west cliff.

Hazy Arco de Albanderia (Again!)

Last year I visited Arco de Albandeira for a sunset photo and unexpected haze arrived, surely it couldn’t happen again? Er, yes!

After a cloudy start yesterday morning, the forecast was looking perfect for a typical Algarve colourful sunset so I decided to head to Arco de Albanderia near Porches for a sunset shot. As I arrived it was immediately clear that the typical Algarve sunset wasn’t going to happen. However, I decided to stay and photograph it anyway. Sometimes, even if you think the results are going to be terrible, you are pleasantly surprised. This image will be available in print (along with many others) when my new print shop goes live (hopefully) tomorrow.

Can you see the Fisherman on the cliff in the distance?

Twilight At Praia De Albandeira (March 2018)

Back in March, I went to take sunset and dusk shots at the fantastic Albandeira Arch. I really wasn’t happy with the results of both the photo and post-editing.

Today, I was going through some old work and once again stumbled across this session. During this year, I have approached my post work differently to achieve my results, so I adopted this new approach and had another go at editing one of the shots from this session. I am now extremely happy with this final image. It just goes to show that you should never just automatically delete photos you are not happy with, it could just be a bad day of creativity, a sort of photographers writers block.
