Directions

From the South
Travel north along the IC1 and ignore the signs for the village of São Marcos da Serra continuning along the IC1 up the long hill which turns into 2 lanes. Once the lanes return to a single lane, in 600 meters take the left turn into the filter lane signposted “Forninhos”, near Kilometre marker 705 (see below for an example of the Kilometre markers) . Follow this single track road for 700 metres and the gates for Quinta da Tor can be found on the left (the first gates you will come to). Proceed through the gates and up the long gravel drive to the Quinta at the top of the hill.

From the North
Travel south along the IC1 and just after Kilometre marker 704 (see below for an example of the Kilometre markers) the road bends to the right followed by a bend to the left. As you exit these two bends there is a signpost pointing right for “Forninhos” followed by a Bus Stop. Take the right junction immediately after the Bus Stop (Take care, it comes up very quickly!). Follow this single track road for 700 metres and the gates for Quinta da Tor can be found on the left (the first gates you will come to). Proceed through the gates and up the long gravel drive to the Quinta at the top of the hill.

From the village of São Marcos da Serra
If your journey brings you through the village of São Marcos da Serra (or of course you are lost and end up there!) it is very easy to find us. Using the church as your central location, head down the steep hill that is behind the church (the front of the church is the main square), there is a small supermarket at the top of the hill. Keep following this road across the river bridge and follow the road to the sharp right when you reach a junction. Follow this road for almost 2 kilometres and you will find the gates to Quinta da Tor on the right. Proceed through the gates and up the long gravel drive to the Quinta at the top of the hill.

Kilometre Markers

This is what the Kilometre markers look like on the IC1. They are spaced out at 1 kilometre gaps so that it is useful for directions and emergency services. The “Forninhos” junction is between markers 704 and 705.
