Come and spend a morning with me and other like-minded nature and photography lovers in the Steppe terrain around the area of Castro Verde in the Alentejo region. The trip includes transport with pickups in Albufeira, São Bartolomeu de Messines and São Marcos da Serra. Our first stop is the fantastic centre at LPN (Liga para a Protecção de Natureza) near Castro Verde where the staff onsite will welcome you and provide a video-based introduction to their work. Staff will also be onsite for you to ask any questions. For more information on the LPN Centre, please visit the Programa Castro Verde Sustentável website. The area has a short easy-going route (approx. 3.5km) where you can spot many bird species including the Lesser Kestrel and if you are lucky you’ll spot the beautiful European Roller that nests at the Centre. Should you not wish to walk, then you are welcome to remain at the Centre in which you still maybe lucky to view the Lesser Kestrels and European Rollers.
Another fantastic service the LPN has provided is the conservation of both the Little and Greater Bustard, again, we maybe lucky to view these amazing birds.
After the visit to the LPN Centre, we will head off for a lunch stop (not included in the price) before taking a driving tour around the area to spot some of the amazing birds of prey that are in large numbers, usually very easily. Birds such as various Vultures, Eagles (including the Golden Eagle) and other amazing raptors. If something of great interest is spotted, there will be time to get out of the transport to view and photograph them.
This day trip is limited to just 8 people to help keep the event very personal.
The day includes the following;
» Transport with pickup/drop off at either Albufeira, São Bartolomeu de Messines or São Marcos da Serra
» Presentation by the LPN Centre (Video based)
» LPN Staff available to ask any further questions
» Optional 3.5km Walk around the LPN Centre to spot and photograph bird species
» Lunch-stop (cost not included, feel free to bring your own packed lunch if you wish)
» Guided drive around the Castro Verde area to spot and photograph the bird species
» I will be available at all times for any photography techniques you may wish to ask.
» A limited supply of cold water will be available during the entire day
