Description

Come and explore the my local area which is rich with nature and wildlife. The Algarve Serra around the traditional village of São Marcos da Serra is the perfect area for walking with stunning scenery.
The walk can be tailored to your own requirements of fitness, experience and desire to see particular nature species. I’m also happy to discuss nature photography too!
The walk will last between 2 and 3 Hours and will be a gentle pace with plenty of stops.
The price is just €12 per person with a minimum charge of €36 for group sizes less than 3. The maximum group size is 10 people.
Depending on the season, you may see some of the following wildlife, but of course nothing can be guaranteed and you may see nothing (The scenery is still great!);
» Short-Toed Eagles
» Booted Eagles
» European Bee Eaters
» Firecrests
» Golden Oriole
» Lesser Spotted Woodpeckers
» Kingfishers
» Otters
» Egyptian Mongoose
….plus much more!
Please note that these walks are not specific bird watching tours but a relaxed general nature walk.

The area is rich in Cork Oak and Medronho Trees and explanations of the Harvesting process will also be given.
The meeting time can be tailored to your own requirements, but I would strongly recommend a morning start. A meeting point may vary depending on the route we will take.
Things to bring;
» Yourself.
» A drink.
» Walking Shoes or Trainers (Sandals or FlipFlops are not recommended).
» Correct clothing for the weather.
» In the warmer months you may want to bring sunglasses, hat and sunscreen as it can get hot in the Serra.
» Camera and Binoculars (not mandatory).
If you are wishing to bring multiple lenses and tripods bear in mind you will be carrying it the whole time. This walk is also suitable for you to bring your children and dogs (on leads) are also welcome, although this may hinder wildlife spotting.
Here is a video of the scenery to expect.
