Re-edit of another Kruger favourite

As my photography is a little slow at the moment (due to weather and other commitments), I decided to give another old favourite of mine a re-edit.

This is a Lioness in Kruger National Park, South Africa taken back in 2011 with my old Nikon D70s and AF-S 70-300 f/5.6-5.6.

One reason I like this shot is that it (sort of) breaks the rules. You’ll read everywhere that wildlife photography is all about getting the eyes. This photo was taken just after sunrise when she was on her way back to her hidden Cubs. Her eyes being half closed and looking directly at me tells me that she’s tired and had a tough night. You can see some blood just under her right ear which also adds to the story.

What I’d give to have the opportunity to go back to Kruger with some of the newer equipment I have to play with!
