Happy Christmas

For this years Christmas Photo I wanted to be able to use the Great Conjunction of Jupiter & Saturn as a Christmas Star so came up with the idea to use it with the amazing cliff top church of “Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Rocha” near Armaçao de Pera.

There was no way it would work without the help of a little Photoshop manipulation, but I was determined not to completely cheat.

I shot a photo about 20 minutes after sunset from the opposite cliff to the church and then waited for complete darkness to fall. I could have easily just painted some white dots, but instead, I shot the planets at 1000mm (500mm f/4 with 2x teleconverter) and in Photoshop I resized this photo to the correct ratio compared to the church. Then with a little bling added it was blended into the sunset shot.

A Huge Thank You!


Although I have been a photographer for quite some time, it still leaves me speechless and humble (although many will disagree with the speechless bit) when my goal of making people go “WOW!” is acheived.

Yesterday’s Christmas Fair in Almádena did just that. As an artist, when I shoot, process, print and frame my photographs the goal is to share the passion of capturing my images to all. So when a response such as yesterday resulting in so many of my prints being sold and taken home (along with my calendars) it is a feeling that is difficult to describe.

I want to thank everyone who stopped by viewed and chatted about my work and of course, an extended thanks to the many people who purchased prints. It really is a special feeling knowing that the work I have created is hanging on somebody’s wall to be admired. It was also good to meet many of my Facebook and blog followers too!

THANK YOU!

Due to an unforseen issue, I won’t be able to make the fair in Ferragudo today, but have added a new fair at the Smokehouse & Tapas Bar in Carvoeiro on Sunday 8th December, I look forward to displaying more work and meeting new people there!
