Morning Dog Walk: Today All About Wally!

Wally has been a little unwell for a few days, he has been suffering from terrible sickness and diarrhoea and as he’s a big baby when it comes to things like this, he has been feeling really sorry for himself.

Today he seems back to normal, his appetite is back and was running around like the crazy fool he is, so this morning’s walk, I ignored the Bee-Eaters flying around, ignored Bluey and snapped a few photos of him. Oh and I haven’t seen Roxy for a while so I’m guessing she is possibly now sitting on eggs. In case you are new and wondering what I’m talking about, Bluey and Roxy are a local pair of Blue Rock Thrushes.

Don’t forget, if you fancy some photos of your Dog(s) why not book one of my Dogs-In-Nature Photo Shoots!

Practice Practice Practice…..

For those that have attended one of my Workshops will know how much I stress that you have to practice photography. This isn’t the case just for beginners learning, but also experienced photographers.

You will often see me using Wally as my model whilst out walking him in the mornings. He loves the “Stay….Stay….Stay….Fetch!” game and this morning we had a lot of fun. Not only is this practice good for technique and the technical aspects of the camera, but also helps with framing and artistic approach.

Here’s a few shots of Wally from this morning.

Always Shoot With The Sun Over Your Shoulder?….Yeah Right!

You may have heard this spoken many times, “shoot with the sun over your shoulder”, this is so that you get a good light falling on your subject. Of course, this isn’t a rule as such, but often given as advice. However, shooting with the sun at different angles can be creative.

This morning, Wally was taking a drink from the river and he was in direct line of the sun. I took a shot and with some “mood” editing in Lightroom came away with this shot. I love that his tongue is lit.

Wally Playing In The River: Your Own Dog Photo Shoots Now Available!

Almost every morning, I get up, drink a fresh “Bean-to-Cup” Coffee to wake me and take Wally out for his walk. Usually, he has to be very patient as I look for new things to photograph on the walk. This morning however, it was all about Wally.

We spent a long time playing in (what is left of) the river. Of course, I still had to point the camera at him!

I love photographs of Dogs playing naturally and think that all dog owners should be taking snaps as (in most cases) they are only with us for a small percentage of our own lives. If you would like your own photography session with your dog(s), for just €75 I will photograph your dog in a location of your choice and provide 5 digital photographs and also include one large photograph print. Of course, you have the option more prints for a small charge. If you want to combine the photo shoot with more than one dog (up to a maximum of 4), simply add just €25 per dog.

Here are some of the photos I got from this mornings fun in the river with Wally.
