Long Exposure Sunset

I had just finished working on a new feature at my “A Rocha” area, more details soon, and I noticed that the sky was turning into a stunning colour-fest. A quick grab of the camera and I noticed that although the wind at ground level was calm the clouds were moving south quickly.

I decided to try something different and take a long exposure of a colourful sunset to blur the moving clouds.

Light Fades On The Fallen

I was convinced there would be a great sunset tonight and headed up on Eagle Ridge. For those that have been on one of my Free Nature Walks In The Algarve that includes Eagle Ridge will know where I mean!

Yet again, we have what appears to be a hazy cloud that arrives near the horizon at sunset spoiling the perfect Algarvian sunset, however, I stayed around to capture what colour there was in the sky.

The tree on the right is a Cork Oak and also the dead tree is too.

Hazy Arco de Albanderia (Again!)

Last year I visited Arco de Albandeira for a sunset photo and unexpected haze arrived, surely it couldn’t happen again? Er, yes!

After a cloudy start yesterday morning, the forecast was looking perfect for a typical Algarve colourful sunset so I decided to head to Arco de Albanderia near Porches for a sunset shot. As I arrived it was immediately clear that the typical Algarve sunset wasn’t going to happen. However, I decided to stay and photograph it anyway. Sometimes, even if you think the results are going to be terrible, you are pleasantly surprised. This image will be available in print (along with many others) when my new print shop goes live (hopefully) tomorrow.

Can you see the Fisherman on the cliff in the distance?

Colourful Sunset & Moonrise

Yesterday afternoon a thin haze, high in the sky was developing which usually results in a colourful sunset. I headed to the nearby Sapeira to get a shot of the sunset with the river bridge in the foreground. The colours did not disappoint with the sun lighting up the haze, as a bonus when I turned around to start packing up the Cold Moon (the name given to December’s Full Moon) was rising with the fading sunset still providing some colour.
