It was great to meet some new faces and see some regulars on this morning’s walk. I decided to do something different today and instead of walking some of the mountain ridges decided to take a walk in a nearby Eucalyptus Forest. We braved the forecast showers and luckily had just 2 short showers. The sun occasionally popped out to warm us up.
Yet again, the wildlife was a little quiet, plenty of smaller birds around and although calling very loudly remained well hidden in the thick cover of the trees. We did see one very unlucky Horeshoe Whip Snake that looked like it had been run over whilst sunbathing on one of the larger dirt tracks. It was alive, but not sure on its chances of survival, I moved it to the side of the road, where it was probably lunch for a Mongoose or maybe a lucky Short Toed Eagle.
Even though the sightings where lacking today, it was still great to be out in the forest talking about the nature around the hills of the Algarve.
I hope to see you all again on the next one. Date will be published soon.
