Flickr No More!

Facebooktwittermail

Can you spot the difference in the 2 snapshots of the right-hand bar of the website?

Yes, I’ve removed the Flickr link. I have been using Flickr’s services since around 2007 as they have a fantastic platform to host full resolution images and also a great way to build albums and portfolios. However, in recent years they have been through many owners and troubled times. In 2018 Smugmug bought Flickr and already they seem to be in trouble. Last year they increased the “Pro subscribers” account from a very reasonable $25 to (a just about acceptable) $50 and drastically reduced the amount of photos non-subscribers could have in their platform. This was to try and push people to subscribe to their Pro account. Last month they announced that they required more people to pay for a Pro account to survive and mentioned a “small price” increase for the service. Yesterday this “small price” increase was announced, if you think and extra €15 (when converted) is a “small price” then fair enough, but I think this is ridiculous.

Flickr hasn’t really changed apart from 3rd party extras (printing service for example) and they still haven’t even fixed the issue many people have with the Android App where notifications don’t work. Therefore, this is the final straw for me and I will not be renewing my subscription in April. Continue reading >>

Personal 3 Hour Photography Workshop Sessions Now Available!

Facebooktwittermail

2020 will see me introduce more learning events and services, the first of which is my new Personal Photography Workshop Sessions.

Not everybody is able to spare an entire day to attend one of my Digital Photography Fundamentals Workshops, some may not want to cover all the topics in one day or even just want to cover certain topics.

Therefore, I am now available for Personal Workshop Sessions that last approximately 3 hours. These sessions can cover any of the aspects of photography and also can be used to learn more about Smartphone and/or Tablet photography. They can also be used as follow-up sessions if you have already attended a Workshop.

The sessions can be booked individually for up to 4 people or multiple sessions can be pre-paid to receive a discount.

More information can be found in the Personal Photography Workshop Sessions Page.

My Wild Portugal Digital Artwork Collection Now Available!

Facebooktwittermail

As mentioned a short while ago, I have been working on some Digital Artwork. I can now announce that I have selected 5 of my images and I have been transforming them into Digital Art to create a collection of a new and different approach to my work.

This collection is a limited edition production and each image will only be printed and sold with 100 copies (each print individually numbered). They are available individually or can be purchased as the entire Wild Portugal Digital Artwork Collection which gives all 5 images for the price of 4.

The square images are framed in a black 30x30cm glass fronted frame and a large white matt-board frames the 17x17cm image. I really feel this brings a different and unique perspective of the wildlife of Portugal. As always, these images are available to view in my Gallery Room by appointment.

Here are the images available in the collection, click the picture to view in the shop along with a view of them framed.

Prints Of My Work Are Now Available Mounted & Framed – 2 Sizes, 4 Colours!

Facebooktwittermail

You probably noticed a “soft launch” of my framed prints in both the Kingfishers of 2019 and Sunset Over Castelo De Silves posts yesterday.

It is taking some time to update every print in the Webshop but soon, all prints will be available both framed and unframed. At this stage, framed prints are only available to either be collected from here at the Quinta near São Marcos da Serra (by appointment only) or I can arrange a meet & greet in the central Algarve area.

I am also now able to offer a viewing gallery for your chosen print along with any other prints available to purchase right here at the Quinta, again, this is strictly by appointment only and further details will follow in the coming days.

The Webshop also gives you the chance to view a print in a digital impression of your choice of frame size and colour.

Kingfishers of 2019 (The End Of This Years Project) – Framed Prints Now Available!

Facebooktwittermail

It started off quite a difficult task this year with the Kingfishers. The river level was a little lower than usual in late spring which didn’t provide the correct angles I was looking for with my perched portraits. It wasn’t until the juveniles left the nests that I was able to shoot at the correct angles. It really was a waiting game, which paid off.

The local Kingfishers bred very successfully this year and I had some amazing sessions with them. All my favourite photos follow below. Most of these photos and others are available to purchase in print in the Webshop.

Clicking each photo will open up the product in the shop. I am slowly updating the shop to include these prints framed. All Kingfisher photos are now available framed! To celebrate my the Kingfisher success, all Kingfisher prints (including framed) have been discounted until the end of September!

Please note, currently all framed prints are available for local pickup only and can be viewed (by appointment only) in my viewing gallery here at the Quinta. I can also meet and greet in the central Algarve area!
